Right Moves for youth is a school-based support program that collaborates with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police The mission of Right Moves for Youth is to provide the resources and guidance to help underserved youth graduate from high school with a plan for future success. Our mission is realized through the operation of middle and high school-based programming designed to promote the positive development of young people. Right Moves for Youth utilizes a unique group structure to provide positive adult and peer support in a safe structured environment. RMFY groups help young people develop more positive attitudes and better interpersonal skills, change behavior, practice and strengthen new skills, and transfer them to everyday life. These groups are facilitated by caring staff and volunteers who have been trained in group facilitation. As a prevention program we give students tools that help them define the meaning of graduation and future success, while facilitating their pursuit of the skill set and characteristics necessary to thrive as productive adults. We meet our mission by providing a structured group environment; facilitating the use of curricula that aims to improve self-awareness, social development and vocational exploration; and supporting our students with qualified staff, more than 500 dedicated volunteers and committed school and community partners.
