There are benefits to getting involved with RMFY, and multiple ways to do it!
Think about someone who made a difference in your life. What did this person do that made such an impact? What were his/her qualities that you admired? How does this person’s influence on you show up in your life today? Don’t you want to pay that forward? Volunteering with RMFY is a great way to do so. Plus, there are so many benefits to your health and well-being when you volunteer!
According to nonprofit hub, volunteering has long-term benefits like boosting self-esteem, expanding your social and professional circles, greater longevity, increased happiness and sense of purpose in life, and learning new skills. In fact, HelpGuide states that volunteering may actually counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety, and combat depression!
You have the opportunity to move a worthy mission forward. You have the opportunity to show teens that our community values them – that they have something to offer the world to make it better. You have the opportunity to leverage your skills, passion, and talents to lift our community and bring more fun and fulfillment to your life. And, RMFY has the easy platform and multiple ways for you to get involved! Sign up for any of these:
- Group mentoring: Assist the RMFY Program Specialist with curriculum activities that engage weekly student groups in learning new skills. Group mentors help to provide support to teens as they develop positive connections with each other and positive adults who surround them.
- Transportation/Chaperoning: Receive the necessary training and certification (at no cost to you) to transport students in RMFY vehicles to field trips, service learning projects, and incentive activities.
- Motivational Speaking: Share your story, experiences, and career lessons to inspire our teens to turn obstacles into opportunities.
- Special Events: Assist with various events throughout the year including the RMFY March Madness Competitions, Twilight 5K Road Race & Walk, and Ambassadors Leadership programs. To sign up for special events, please contact Operations Director, Sabrina Gilchrist, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 704-377-4425 ext. 106.
