Tis the Season

RMFY is fortunate to have the support of so many people and organizations within the Charlotte community. Because of you, our students receive exposure to new experiences, tremendous support and incentive to keep making the right moves for a better life for all.  Here are just a few of the events that RMFY students experienced during this holiday season:

“Riding High”
For more than 10 years, the Spokes Group, the City of Charlotte, and RMFY have teamed up to build brand new bikes for deserving RMFY students! This year, RMFY received and distributed 75 bikes and helmets as incentives throughout the 60+ RMFY groups.
“Thank you, Shaq-Claus!”
It’s no secret that Carolina Panthers player, Shaq Thompson, cares about mentoring. In honor of the strong group mentoring that RMFY does in schools, Shaq spent time with RMFY students, shared his story of overcoming obstacles, and provided Nike hoodies and shoes to 100 RMFY middle and high school students. His teammate, James Bradberry, provided Under Armour Coats.
“Living the ‘Suite’ Life”
Thanks to Terry Rozier’s 12 Blessings Foundation and the Charlotte Hornets, RMFY students received brand new basketballs and a chance to enjoy the Hornets vs. Sacramento Kings game in an executive suite (with bottomless food and beverages)!
“Carving Turkeys”
Employees at Bank of America host RMFY students at Bowlero. While there was lots of fun, we’re not sure anyone scored a turkey (three strikes in a row).
